Catching up with Scott & Sheryl

Just a quick note to update everyone on some recent events. First of all, Sheryl is pregnant and we are expecting twin girls! Needless to say, we are beyond thrilled and eagerly preparing for their arrival. We know this will be our next great adventure and we are embracing it. And we’re already dreaming up some travel ideas — trips for when they are a bit older.

We have really enjoyed knowing that our podcast continues to bring enjoyment to new listeners, even though it has been more than a year since our return. Understandably, influenced by recent events, we’re looking a ways to adjust our budget and we will be ending the podcast feed (XML) at the end of the month. In the future, if there is enough interest, we may look at ways to distribute the entire series on disc (perhaps with a selection of photos and some previously unreleased content, too?) for a reasonable price.

For now, we continue to appreciate your support and we are looking forward to this next chapter in our lives.

    Hey Scott and Sheryl,

    Congratulations!

I found your podcast last summer and it was one of those that I listened to episode upon episode as I gardened and piddled about. Your experiences were great fun and engaging and I appreciated your thoughtful and open approach to travel. I thought to check back here to see where you settled and what you are up to. It’s fun to hear that you are also living in Portland, my husband and I are in central SE.
Thank you so much for all your effort, you podcast was a true favorite and has inspired many travel conversations in our home. Please do consider creating the CDs.
I hope to bump into you around town someday, I’m guessing with your girls it won’t be hard to pick you out of the crowd. Congratulations again on your new family!

Congratulations! That is very exciting news and a wonderful new adventure for the two of you! When you were in Europe I eagerly awaited the release of every new podcast, listened to them at my very boring job and dreampt of quitting, selling my condo and spending a year in Europe! Since then I have quit my job (to work from home) and am trying to work out a way to sell my condo (without taking too much of a loss) and have an extended European adventure (before my husband and I have children). So I still have a bit to figure out, but I have a few ideas I am working on!

So I want to say thank you for your podcasts, it was very exciting to listen to a happy couple on the kind of adventure most only dream of. I loved listening to every one and it sounds like you two will be VERY fun parents to the twin girls! I hope that you will still keep a blog, that the devoted listeners can see what you are up to.

I discovered your podcast long after your trip ended, but still love listening:) It is my all time favorite and I recommend it often. I’m sure that many of your listeners would love an audio compilation on disk or even a travel log type book with your photos. Maybe this could fund your next journey?? Congratulations on the twins:)

  5. Marla Says:

    Congratulations to you both!
After listening to your entire journey (repeatedly, I must admit) and dreaming of one day experiencing something similar myself, both of you have become travel ‘friends’ that I’ll always be happy to have ‘met’. I’ve saved your podcasts to my iTunes library and will continue to refer to them for years to come. I hope to see your return to the travel blog world.. with little ones in tow!

Congratulations on the twins ! We have 5 sets in our extended family and that is a trip in itself. I have listend to all of your podcasts at least twice over. Please think seriously about putting them on disc with photos and put me down for a set if you do! And again, thank you for sharing that part of your life with all of us avid listeners and the best to you and your new family.

  7. Barbara Says:

    Congratulations! And best of luck.
Me, too. I listen to part of one of the podcasts nearly everyday during my morning and evening walks to and from work.
I am such a fan of your photography, Scott.
I would love to see more of your photos from Europe.

Congratulations! As a listener to your podcasts while you were travelling I feel that I have shared in a small part of your life as if we were neighbours.

Although my wife and I are at a different stage in our lives than you two, your experience has inspired us to retire and head to Europe for an extended period which we never thought we could do. After listen to your travels we asked why not us?

I want to wish you both well and thank you for sharing your experience.

What great news for my fave podcasters. Best of luck on your new adventure as parents-to-be and many blessings on the arrival of your “twin travelers”. Thank you both always for sharing your travels, I’ll always keep these podcasts and listen to them in years to come. Till you podcast again, thanks Sheryl & Scott!

I have found about your podcast today, and already listened the introduction! Sounds wonderful. I recently moved to Switzerland from the USA, and your podcast will be my guide on my Euro-venture!
By the way congrats to both of you on your “new life”.
    All the best from Zurich…

Exciting news! Congratulations. I just finished listening to your final podcast today. Over the past month, I’ve been enjoying hearing about your travels. I am glad I was able to listen to them all at once rather than waiting for each new update. I am currently living in northern Italy–not traveling full time, but just when our schedules and money allow. I’ve been here for 9 months now, and I loved comparing my (quite limited) experiences and impressions with yours. I’ve never written comments on someone else’s blog, but I just wanted to thank you for the time and effort you put into your podcasts. I loved them and I am sure I will be revisiting them, especially before planning our little trips.

(And I love that you moved to Portland. I think it’s a great place.)
