‘A Year in Europe Wallpaper Gallery’ for iPad!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Since returning from our trip, I’ve looked for ways to express the creative inspiration I found in Europe. If you’ve listened to our podcast, you already know about my enthusiasm for photography. While I’ve offered my photographs as prints and have used them as the basis for other media (screenprints, paintings), I’ve been seeking other ways to distribute and display my photography in a unique way.

I’m thrilled to introduce to you our new app – “A Year in Europe Wallpaper Gallery” for iPad. The app features 20 of my photographs from locations we visited on our trip. The images can be used in portrait and landscape orientations as background wallpaper on your iPad. I’ve included a personal comment with each image. You can also learn more about each location through built-in Wikipedia and Map links.

The app is now available in the Apple iTunes App Store:

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Neutra 16 City Fiesta!

Podcast listeners will remember my “Logan’s Run” moment in front of the Pavilion of the Future on La Cartuja in Sevilla, Spain. One of my photos was featured in the recent issue of the review of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Sevilla. Here are a couple photos of Neutra 16 and the original photo that was published.

Paintings, Prints, Photos

We talk a bit about what we took away from our trip on our final podcast. But there is something else I took away from our journey that I didn’t mention – inspiration. Most are aware of my enthusiasm for photography, but during the past year I’ve been exploring other ways to reflect on our European adventures. Over the past few months, I’ve been doing some painting, much of it inspired by some of our favorite places. More recently, I’ve been learning about screen printing, too, which is a creative process I really enjoy. If you’d like to see more, check out my new Studio site featuring a gallery of my paintings, prints and some of my favorite photographs.

Vernazza Doorway

I’ve recently started to go back through the many photographs taken over the course of the year. I’m not kidding when I say that there are thousands of them! The majority of them adequately serve a purpose for us, as personal reminders of our travels. But some, I think, are composed and imaged well enough to print for display. I’ve been picking out and editing a few of my favorites from our original files. This week, I made several of these photographs available for purchase through Imagekind.com. It is a new-to-me service, but I’ve heard good things about it and thought I’d give it a try. There are lots of paper and framing options available. I’ll be offering more photos there over the next couple of weeks. And if there are other photos you’d like to see available for printing (some you may have seen through flickr), let me know.

Another reason that I’ve started to go back through our original photo files? Maybe there’s a “Photographs from A Year in Europe” book in the works? We’ll see…
